Job Description

Food is Not the Enemy is a community of helping professionals working to enhance the mental well-being of adolescents, adults, families and couples in Vancouver and greater Portland. We are trauma-trained, take a non-diet and Health at Every Size approach to food and weight, and help people heal the underlying emotional and relational challenges to their food and body image concerns. We help people develop strong roots for personal growth and welcome people of all sizes, races, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
 
We are currently seeking a clinical therapist in our Portland, OR office. Clinical therapist will provide outpatient individual and group therapy to clients of Food Is Not the Enemy, with locations in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. Clinical therapy services include treatment of adults, adolescents, couples and families. Treatment specialties focus on eating disorders and body image concerns and may include: adolescents, couples, trauma, EMDR, family, etc. We are looking for a therapist who knows their ideal client(s) and specializes in helping one or more types of clients with eating disorders and body image challenges.
 
Reports to: Owner and/or Clinical Director.
 
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
§ Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling or social work; and
§ Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LPC) in the State of Oregon (must be fully licensed). A copy must be provided to Food Is Not the Enemy.
§ Available to hold at least 10 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Food Is Not The Enemy.
 
Other Qualification Preferences:
§ Prior experience in a private practice setting.
§ At least three years’ experience post-unrestricted licensure.
§ Have at least one niche market for counseling services (i.e., children, teens,
trauma, EMDR, etc.).

Hours:
Work hours and schedule may vary depending on client and Food Is Not The Enemy needs. Hours include some nights and/or weekends. Therapist is not guaranteed a minimum number of clients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that Therapist will be available to hold at least 10 to 25 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Food Is Not The Enemy. Patient sessions are held in the offices of Food Is Not The Enemy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Perform on-site clinical counseling services to clients of Food Is Not The Enemy, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.
  2. Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work is required.
  3. Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Food Is Not The Enemy.
  4. Respond to clients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Food Is Not The Enemy website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such clients.
  5. Communicate with a patient’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
  6. Timely complete written records for each patient including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Food Is Not The Enemy or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the patient within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). Keep patient files accurate and up to date.
  7. Charge and collect payments from clients for services provided consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by Food Is Not The Enemy.
  8. Attend mandatory staff meetings and training as directed by Food Is Not The Enemy.
  9. Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the good will and reputation of Food Is Not The Enemy. Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers.
  10. Other duties which may by assigned by Food Is Not The Enemy.

Adolescent / Family Therapist

Food is Not the Enemy currently has an opening for a Washington-licensed mental health therapist (LCSW, LMHC, PhD, or PsyD) to provide counseling services for adolescents and/or families. This is a part-time position (at least 10 clinical hours across at least 2 days, Monday-Sunday) in an outpatient group practice setting in the Vancouver area. You will be paid a percentage of fees collected rather than a salary.
