Regardless of the season, there’s something going on in Vancouver. Annual events and festivals celebrate different facet of the city’s rich culture, food, arts, and films. Here are some of the events and festivals you should check out whenever you’re in Vancouver. These events are filled with family-friendly fun, so even the little tykes can tag along.

The Celebration of Light
Vancouver’s Celebration of Light is unlike any other fireworks show. Every summer, visitors and residents get to watch the Vancouver night sky change come to life with dozens of colors. The three-day event takes place on English Bay with three countries competing with each other for the adoration of the Vancouver crowd. The light show is accompanied by orchestrated music, that echoes together with the mighty cracks of the fireworks.

Crowds watch the show from the waterfront near the English Bay and Burrard Inlet. Here, they can set picnic blankets, tents, and chairs and dig their feet into the cool beach sand as they take in the show. There’s a special VIP area offering all hosts of favors including delicious cuisines from all over the world.

Cherry Blossom Festival
Each year, throngs of visitors convene in Vancouver to witness the blossoming of over 40, 000 cherry trees that line the streets of the city. The festival runs from March to mid-April every year and includes art events, cherry blossoming viewing tours, bike rides, and Japanese festivities.

True to what the Japanese say, there is no stranger under a cherry tree. Everyone who attends the Cherry Blossom Festival gets to mingle with people from all over the world. The festival is a chance to explore different cultures, culinary delights, and the company of fantastic people.

The International Jazz Festival
Jazz lovers all over the world welcome each summer with the Vancouver’s Jazz Festival. Any conversation about jazz festivals would not be complete without talking about the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. The Festival goes for 12 days with entertainment from some of the biggest music icons from around the world.

More than 1, 500 artists perform 300 concerts from June to July. All of the 35 venues are always jam-packed with adoring fans. The show is almost free for anyone to attend. The festival also brings the chance to sample fine art collections at the Vancouver Art Gallery, as well as enjoying some of Vancouver’s best spots such as the David Lam Park.
