Patricia Calhoun MSW, LCSW (she/her)
Therapist – Portland
For seven years, Patricia has been working with individuals with co-occurring and complex issues including mood disorders and anxiety disorders coupled with complex traumas, substance use disorders, personality disorders, survivors of abuse, emotional dysregulation, self-harm behaviors, emotional disconnection, communication issues, and lack of healthy boundaries. Additionally, Patricia shares her personal recovery experience of over three decades which informs her work and ability to create strong therapeutic bonds.
At the heart of Patricia’s work is her desire to help those who have experienced trauma, oppression, and marginalization (such as; BI-POC, LGBTQ+, addicted individuals) find their voice and power through learned advocacy. These are necessary skills to help you in your goals of healing and finding a more peaceful place to live within your vibrant and beautiful skin.
Patricia believes you are the driver of this therapeutic journey, and she acts like a GPS. She will provide the guidance and suggestion, but you can make whatever turn you want as you are the expert in your life. She will help recalculate any routes necessary along the way.
Patricia feels the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of successful therapy. She wants to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and validated in ways you may have not experienced before. She does this through warmth, compassion, a fantastic sense of humor, and a genuineness in care and concern for you. She is invested in your wellness, and she will build a treatment plan around your needs.
Patricia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Oregon and California with a Master in Social Work from San Jose State University in San Jose, California. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the same school previous to her MSW.
Patricia, her wife, and their dog have just relocated to Portland after living in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area of California for their entire lives. She looks forward to many new outdoor adventures including great restaurants, learning to kayak, and meeting some fabulous new PNW friends. She is open to all suggestions of what to do in this great new home of Portland!
