Michelle Roberts, MA, LPC
Portland State University
Masters in Counseling
Licensed Professional Counselor
Michelle earned her MA in Counseling from Portland State University. She has worked extensively with transition age youth, the LQBTQ+ community and has worked on educating the community to reduce the stigma of mental health challenges. Through her work with Food Is Not The Enemy, she loves to help folks improve their relationships with food and body image, so that they have more space and energy to devote towards the joyful parts of life. As a therapist, Michelle enjoys using narrative techniques and CBT, all with a strengths based approach. In less clinical terms, Michelle brings attention to what is going well for the individual, and helps to re-frame past stories in order to inform the present.
Born and raised in Oregon, Michelle earned a BA in Spanish, and speaks Spanish fluently. In-between undergrad and graduate school, she traveled internationally and lived in Latin America for three years. Since returning to Oregon, she enjoys soaking up the Portland rain and trying all the new restaurants and food carts. In her free time, she enjoys reading both fiction and non fiction and hanging out with her friends and family. She’s also never met a musical she doesn’t like, and loves supporting local theater.
